Oil for Audi / Vw with 130 bhp PD or Pumpe Duese engine should use oil with VW spec 505.01 at least and better to use 507.00.

So while the oil might be ok you would be better with oil with the above specs written on the side of the bottle.

I'd get the right stuff as it should cost no more.

Thats a poor oil, is it accredited by VW ? (not some blurb that says its suitable for, you want an accreditation)

Your car takes the VW 507.00 or 506.00 spec, which is the longlife spec and suitable for PD engines and unitary injector pumps.

Have a look at the Castrol Edge in the gold bottle 5w/30, its a good oil.

You can also get away with 505.00 which is a 10k change spec. As for that one you got, personally speaking I'd bring it back.

    Hope that helps !

505.00 is an old pre-PD spec. 505.01 is the spec you need for fixed service intervals on a PD. The .01 makes all the difference :D

Its on fixed intervals. Last service was at the end of last april (about 8-9k miles ago)

It says nothing on this bottle about 505 or 507 (which is what i got last year iirc from a different motor factors)

Wondering why they gave me this and not a more expensive branded oil??

So just to be clear i should go for either 505.01 or 507?

You MUST go for 505.01 or 507.00. and as george said, 505.00 is not the same..
Main dealers are doing quantum longlife (507.00) for €40ish to the public last Ive checked for 5L.

Cheers for the replies. For the sake of an extra 20 quid i just exchanged it for Castrol Edge fully synth 5w30

    It meets VW 504.00 / 507.00
