Rear door panel removal Passat

Trying to remove the door panel on the rear of a Passat for two reasons:

    1) There is a bit of a dent in it that I want to bash out.

    2) I want to practice panel removal before I try my next big project which is to repair the Electric Window on the front passenger side.

On the rear door panel I have got the trim off no problem, disconnected the outside handle and the cable for the central locking. Also taken off the manual window winder handle (it's broken anyway).

Next I need to remove the internal metal panel. I have unscrewed the bolts, and also the bracket that holds the window winder spindle. I have started to attempt to lever the panel off but it's not coming easily. It has come away in part and here my lack of knowledge is a dangerous thing. I don't know whether I should force it or whether I might cause damage to the window. There doesn't seem to be anything left in terms of bolts or screws connecting the internal panel to the window mechanism but the cable from the winder does seem to be connected to the panel I am trying to remove.

Should I just force it or will I live to regret it?

The door lock and the window regulator are connected to that panel. If you force it you could break the glass.

Search YouTube. Someone's bound to have a how to video.
