Not sure if this is the best place for this, mods please move if you think its suited elsewhere.

So the is a big piece of land to the side of my house. It is owned privately by a local person. Orignally there was meant to be a green area for a small estate he built and also more houses but neither was done and now he is using it as a dumping ground.

Trucks arrive a few times a week dumping rumble and soil and now I have noticed that there is also lots of rubbish being dumped.

What are the laws around dumping of this kind on private land?

Should there not be a license issued by the local council and this should be displayed on the entrance?

Contact your local council for advice as they will know if he's acting legally

No sign there, called the council and reported it they said they will look into it. They also said the EPA have an app called see it say it where you can take a picture and report things like this

He needs a waste licence from the council or planning permission. The environmental section of the council can tell you if there is a licence application in progress or if one has been granted. I think there is a short time for a public submission upon application. An online search of the councils planning applications would let you know if permission has been granted. Was permission granted to raise the level of the land when the original application for the estate went in?

If neither then he should be made to reinstate and pay for the waste removal, but that will depend on how vigerous your council is with enviromental issues.
