I completed the Great Limerick Run 10K Walk last Sunday and really enjoyed it. I looked in envy at everyone running the 10K and would love to try and start running and maybe aim for runnning the 10K next year.
I was looking online and saw that there is a 5K walk and fun-run in Dublin on 30th of June and was was wondering if I would have enough time between now and then to be prepared to run the 5K. I would be grateful for any advice any of you could give.

    Thanks in advance!

Have a look at the couch to 5k programme there are many on here that have done this before and swear by it, I know of a couple of people that tried this out to and are now running the 5k distance.

The programme takes 5 weeks as far as I know so you do have the time before the 30th June.

Couch to 5k takes nine weeks, but from the seventh week, you're running 25+ minutes non stop so you'll be more than able for a 5k by then.

I started it after Christmas and I'm one of the people who swears by it. I went from finding it difficult to run for three minutes to completing two 10k races in less than four months.

I too swear by the programme. Went from barely being able to sustain the 90 second jogs in week 2, to pushing on past the end of the programme to consistently running 10-12k once a week with a couple of 4-7k runs too.
It really is a fantastic programme. It increases the difficulty each week at just the right increments so as not to overwhelm.
    Try it. It's very rewarding.

    Good luck.

I also swear by the c25k programme. Started it late last year and ran my first 5k race in jan in 26.30. I then ran my first 10k 3 weeks ago in 53.10. Its a very well constructed programme that really works
