Astra emissions light

    As the title says I have an emissions light showing on my dash on my astra 05 1.4 petrol
    can any one tell me is this serious or would it be ok to leave for a week or two until I can get it fixed and why is this showing /likely causes (I havent a clue about cars etc ) any suggestions welcome , Thanks

    Is anything else happening? Rough idle, smoke, hesitation when accelerating?
    It could be small or big, without reading fault codes or more info it's impossible to say.

    Turned out to be a crank shaft position sensor , suppose it could have been serious if I left it
    Blasted thing cost 89 euro ,but could be worse I suppose
