A friend of mine was upgrading his Triax TSC114 and the box died, he emailed Triax, and they replied (see below) Is this correct or is there a fix for this situation?

I got the recent upgrade for TSC114 Saorview HD Combi Receiver from the Triax website (see link below). When installing, it started off fine and got to 5% complete, then popped up an error and hung ever since. I now have a dead box in the off position, can't power it on. The error message only popped up for a second, so I only saw the error and not the cause of the error.

Can you offer me any advice/help,
Is there a way to reboot with the initial firmware.

    Thanks for any support.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the TSC 114 receiver. Unfortunately if you have a dead receiver then there is no way of recovering it. The only suggestion I can make is that you return the receiver to where you purchased it from.

If he bought it from Triax, he should send it back to them for repair/replacement. If they claim it is out of warranty, he should inform them that under EU rules, if it don't last 2 years, its to be replaced/repaired.

It was bought off a dealer, don't know details, I thought maybe there may a method of restoring original firmware, the box was fine before attempted update, so guessing it's not a hardware issue.

    Quick update,
Triax have agreed to replace faulty receiver, this was mainly due to the third party that supplied it to my friend, he contacted Triax and explained what happened, the fact they have agreed to replace the receiver without examining it, may mean they have seen this before!

    Thanks again for your help.
