im more than happy with texts as i have very poor coverage at home so txts suit better but it was the aspact of wanting to talk on email that lit my alarm bells

Yup, seems a bit suspect to me.

A bit emailing someone then asking them to fax you back.

Could be sending web text from another country.

Everyone is kinda getting a bit paranoid.
Text/mail back if you like, but proceed with caution as always.
Let us know how you get on.

Set any random email with any free provider (gmail, hotmail, whatever) and send him an email.
You'll see what you get back.

    Nothing to loose.

Sometimes there might be people interested who can't speak English, and email is the best form of contact with them.

Yes its a scam as soon as they ask you to conduct the rest of the conversation through email rather than text or voice.
