Excel and Finder Integration

I've got Office for Mac 2008 with Snow Leopard, and today I notice that when I rename an open Excel file in Finder, saving in Excel creates a new file in the relevant folder under the old name. Previously, like in Word, if I changed the name in Finder and saved in Office, the title of the document would update in Office and not create a new file. Anyone know how can I put this back?

    Don't rename open files.

no way - same in Mac applications - it creates a duplicate with new name - expected behaviour
