Flying out on Thursday Dublin to New Orleans via Newark on United. I need to get some whiskey for family in the duty free so just wondering if it's ok to get in Dublin. I forget the set up in Newark in regards to connections. Don't want to find I'm not able to buy it when I get to the airport.

You'll have no problem bringing it all the way there as you'll clear immigration and customs here so it's a simple transfer in Newark terminal c with no security.

Excellent. I had a feeling that was the case but just wanted to double check. Saves me a trip to the off licence now.

What's the story when you're switching terminals in JFK? I'm landing in one terminal and making a connection in another?

Wanted to buy Good Irish for some relatives but don't want it put in a dread wheelie bin in JFK - perish the thought!

Changing terminals = passing security again = liquid limits in operation. So no, you can't bring it on with you.

I've passed through security with duty-free bought liquids no problem. Once it's in a sealed bag with the receipt on it, and you declare it to the security staff you should be fine.

One thing to note, when you clear customs and immigration in Ireland, they will not sell duty free alcohol on board the plane.

The sealed bag with a receipt in it is an EU thing. If you change terminals in the US they'll make you bin it.
