Club statistics

I'm back playing golf this summer after three or four years away from it, and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find any statistics on which clubs people hit most often throughout a round? I know Dave Pelz has a few stats on putting and that 90% of shots are hit with wedges, drives and putts, but is there any greater breakdown on these figures?

Also, I can't wait to play golf, goal is to break 80 during the summer.

Why do you want to know??
I think Pelz's is about the best synopsis possible, it really comes down to the course and the player. If its for "what to practice", then putting, chipping and 100 yards and in, will always be the answer.

I'm looking for more detailed statistics really. Also, I'm looking for Pelz's statistics in their totality, because all I've found are some of the findings. Is it possible to find them on the internet, or will I have to buy a book?

A bit of a heavy start. Have you considered the putting green , short game area, driving range first. (that order). You will find that will work well with a 95% confidence interval.

Oh of course, that's my plan. But it would be interesting to know anyway.

For what its worth, I once kept stats for 4 full years.
Roughly playing about 33-35 singles rounds each year (except the 4th one, when I got injured mid-year and only played 20), my percentage of shots hit with either a wedge or a putter averaged out at exactly 60% each year. Couldn't believe how constant it was when I looked at it. It varied a little from round to round obviously, but yearly average was the same each year.
Don't know what it would be if drivers were included.

For my course, about 70% of my shots are either with a driver / 3 wood, SW / LW, or putter. The remainder fall into the 4-PW category. Funnily enough, yesterday was the first time I practiced short game this year. Must do more of it now the evenings are brighter!
