I've been a photography enthuiast for a few years and have done most kind of photography, except sports and would be interested in getting some portfolio shots together in that area.

Where do I get started? Do I just go to the nearest football or rubgy pitch at the next game and start shooting? Do I contact clubs when I'm not actually touting for paid work?

All I can tell you is that you need an official club press pass to get pitch side for League of Ireland games. However, you are free to take pictures from outside the perimeter of the playing area

Rock up to your local clubs next game, go for the seniors as if there's kids it could be an extra hassle, bring a few cards and hand them out if people want you can send them on the images, you build up your portfolio and potential customer base, and they get free photos, everyone wins
