we never had a pit or anything, so cant see why my father keep taking them back from the garage after a tyre change,

must have about 20 in the shed, . . . taking up space. .

what's the cheapest way to get rid?

Some places charge less if you bring old ones away as it costs them to get rid.

You could string them together and use them as a cheap grass harrow, save you buying one

Would that work? I thought it was wheel rims for that job?

no, i wonted think the grass harrow will help my land. .. esp if its just made of tires, im going looking at muckits hacket matt for 600yoyos.. . when i get round to it. .

Bad news, i done another count as i was tidying up a bit. . .close to 40 tyres..

now im thinking, is there anything i could build or make using this amt of tyres. ..

maybe if I had a sharp bend on the land, i could do a bank of tyres like formula one.. :D

If you have Limousins you could make a padded pen for the mad f*ckers.
Nearly got killed by one in the shed yesterday and every time I went near the pen today he was bouncing of the walls. Few tires would have been the job for him.

Have actually seen a farm were tires were used to make "toys" for the bulls to stop them digging up the place. I dunno if it worked or not.

One thing for sure. When you finally do get rid of them you'll spot a use for them somewhere.

Know any fishermen or salmon farmers? Tyres are great fenders
Also saw an episode of grand designs where the house was made out of tyres packed with soil
Might manage to make a nice wee shed out of 40?

Probably because they charge a recycling fee.. and paying that goes against the grain for farmers

I heard of one guy who did a load of land drainage with tyres. if the tyres are the same size and down deep enough on a narrow drain they should be fine.

We had loads to get rid of and used them to build a wall or a dyke whatever it's called.
We laid the tyres out in a row where we wanted the wall two deep, tapped a six foot fencing stake in the centre of the tyre every two metres, then filled the tyres up with stones to keep the stake firm. Then we built a wall up and around it with stones to about two high, making the top flat and about two foot wide, then we strung up three foot sheep wire along it.

The other thing the better half did was to make piles about three or four tyres high, then paint them pretty colours fill them with earth and use them for flowers and shrubs etc. you can cut bits out of the sides as well and use them as strawberry planters

Leave them at the gate with a sign

    €200 for the lot

    They'll disappear overnight.

do tyre fitters not get them taken by recycling companies free of charge? you could ring and ask who takes them in you area and if its free. they may do you a turn, doing your bit for the enviroment etc. worth a go anyway, e.g http://www.crumbrubber.ie

Stick an ad on donedeal, tyres available for silage pit, also put down in the ad tyres suitable for trailers, and they will go
