Hi, not sure if this is exactly the correct place for this, so mods please move if necessary.

I am currently living in Canada with my fiancé, and we may be moving back to Ireland before the end of the year. My fiancé is Korean, and I understand that she will be able to get permission to stay relatively easy. After I move home, I intend to spend a couple of months sorting things out and taking a small vacation. However, I will then be applying for jobs in Ireland & the UK. If I end up moving to the UK to live and work, can anyone tell me what the situation will be with my partner? Do I have to go through the same process in the UK to get her permission to stay? Would Irish recognition suffice for us to live and work in the UK?

Hey retalivity funny to see you posting here. I ended up coming home with an Amercian other half myself from Toronto

Irish stamp 4 which is what would would be aiming for doesnt work for the UK im affraid theres a diffrent process there but as an EU national you would be able to sponsor her for the the UK easily. Now fiance wont really work for a visa for either Ireland or the UK you need to be married to her. My advise is before you come home is to give notice to marry here in Ireland the notice peroid here is 3 months or in Belfast which the notice period is only 2 weeks to marry her. Immigation might look at her funny at the airport coming in on a one way ticket. So if you want to be very careful id marry her in Canada or the US. If you need more info send me a pm and Ill help you out. I have been though this myself

Cheers. Still 50/50 on definitely going back this year, all depends on a few external factors.
I understand that if your married its a lot easier, and if we do go back then we'll probably do the civil thing over here before we leave. I just wasn't sure about the UK if i d eventually end up there and what would happen.
