I recently went on a holiday to Gran Canaria and I went on three of the Free Motion mountain bike tours, and I had an absolutely fantastic time of it. I would heartily recommend them for bike hire and getting guided down some of the best trails that I've been on.

The overall cost to me for 3 days of bike hire, with upgraded bike, for the most difficult trails they take customers on, was €165. For that I got uplift, packed lunch, water, and the use of a current season's Cannondale Jekyll all-mountain bike. Also, I got guided on three of the better trails on the island - the Northern Trails, the Guayadeque Trails, and the Soria-Veneguera trails. I brought my own body armour, and it's necessary for the first two and recommended for the third.

The guides were knowledgeable and very able, as well as being really friendly. The group size was less than ten riders, with a customer cross section of skills from fairly good through to a lot better than I am :)

If you are a mountainbiker, and you are heading out to that part of the world next springtime, if you get a chance you should look up these guys and go on at least the Northern Trails - it's epic with fantastic scenery, great descents, technical trails over rock and soil, with a little bit but not too much climbing. The Guayadeque trails are extremely technical, and only the best riders on good bikes will be able to roll everything on it. There are fairly good videos on youtube of the trails to give yo ua good idea of what they are like.

    The website is here: http://www.free-motion.net/en/mountainbiking/gran-canaria-winter

I had a lot of fun, and I thing that it's only fair to pass on the information for other people to take advantage.
