Having looked around the car the only way I can see to connect my iPhone to the car stereo is via the Aux connection under the arm rest - now this works but I can use the steering wheel controls or radio controls to scroll through the tracks.

I have looked in the glove box but there's no additional cable.

Any ideas or have I missed something really obvious?

Check see if you have the ami box in the glove box, if not its big money, but there is third party options such as xcarlink

Cheers lads - have check the glove box but no joy - when you say big money would that be for Audi to instal the unit ? How much do you think?
I wouldn't have the technical know how to try it myself

Try a dension gateway. You can get Bluetooth included as well. Meant to be a tad expensive but you can control everything from the mmi afaik.

Edit: there's a guy on here who fits and codes these in Dublin. PM me and I'll route out his name for you

I was quoted €630 to install into an A6 by Audi Cork. Mine didn't have AMI fitted from new.

Buy a big capacity SD card and stick all your music on that.

Put the SD card in to the slot on the radio and all your music is controllable via the radio and steering wheel controls.

Saves having to remember your i-pod, or leaving it in the car. Just means you will need to update the library on the SD card when you get new music. Damn site cheaper than a Denison or xcarlink.
