Back in the olden days (around 1966) being "gay" used to mean being "happy, joyous, lighthearted and jovial", then someone thought of putting his todger inside another man's bottom, and all of a sudden being "gay" meant something completely different.

I just want know if it shall ever be possible again some day to say that you are "gay" without people automatically jumping to the conclusion that you have a sexual desire for the male anus?

    No.

And now the meaning of the word is changing again. Amongst school kids today it means "lame". "That's so gay" means "That's not very good at all".

All words change their meanings over time: "sad, lame, wicked, deadly, haunted, silly, girl, hound, dog, apple, awful, mistress, maiden, bread" and so on.
