    I get as far as making the bid but what happens after that. I see you pay the seller on collection mostly etc. if the seller accepts your offer is it a contract then. for eg im in cork and say I was the highest bidder on something and won which was in Dublin but I didn't like it when I got there or it wasn't as described am I stuck to buy it.

    No you're not stuck to buy it, if it's not as described. If you are unsure about something when you're making you're offer, you can say subject to inspection. That makes it clear to all concerned. You don't have to always make an offer, you can just ask a question before making an offer also. Also if you are unsure about something you can arrange to view it without making an offer on it. You should have a read of the house buyer and seller rules.
