I have one more exam left, next Friday...it is also the one I have done the least amount of work for...what with my portfolio and everything else. (I handed in my completed portfolio last Wednesday). I am having a very hard time trying to focus on my work. It is a three hour paper, answer 5 out of 7 questions. I am having a hard time concentrating and I am starting to panic. I have five and a half days left, is it possible for me to pass this paper? Any tips would be very much appreciated.

    Of course its possible!

Whats the pass mark? If its 40% then you only have to have 2 excellent questions to pass - realistically you wont have 2 perfect questions but you could have 3 very good questions - which is under 2 hours writing.

Can you prepare under 2 hours writing in 5 and a half days? Definitely!!

If I were you Id narrow down the topic that you want to answer (go for your strengths and stuff that interests you).

Try to get 3 really good answers ready. Then you know youve passed, anything else is just gravy on your mash at that stage.

    Hey Op,

I am in a similar boat at the moment, my last exam is next Thursday and its 3 essay answers. We are expected to write 3 - 4 pages for each answer so I'm freaking out a bit.

I think you can pass if you spend the next few days planning your answers and preparing. Have they given you any ideas of the topics coming up? Have a look at past papers, there is usually repeat questions that are a good bet.

Otherwise, just think of it as one last bit effort and then you are free :D. I know its hard to get motivated, especially as the last few weeks have been stressful and when it comes to the last exam you just feel like your brain is going to melt, moreso if the subject is not your best or very interesting.

Here's a few tips we were given which might help (they are probably really basic and I'm sure you know them already but just thought I would put them out there):

    - Answer the questions ASKED, do not just regurgitate what you know about the topic
    - Use evidence (studies, theories for and against)
    - Analyse and evaluate; compare different views/theories/
    - Show distinguishing features of a theory or subject (don't merely describe)
    - Place the topic in a broader context

Some of that might not be appropriate, depending on the type of exam and the subject. Don't stress yourself too much, and remember that its generally easier to pick up marks in an exam than coursework. Bearing that in mind, even if you don't know 5 answers very well, make sure you attempt all 5 questions.

    Good luck!

Oh yeah, this reminded me - never go over the time to finish a question - you will always get more marks for the start of a new question than you will trying to "perfect" one thats almost finished.
