An Post 3 year savings bonds pay 2.28% AER tax free, 5 year savings certs pay 2.83% AER tax free. I reckon thats the best deposit rate for that timeframe to be found at this point in time. Afaik you can cash them in early but if you do you lose the attractive deposit rate.

Kbc instant access account pays 3% at the moment.

Just realised that the kbc interest is being reduced from July.
It's still the best for instant access.
The best for 30 days notice is nationwide uk ireland which is 2.75%.

    Hilarious.

    Could have been a comedian.
    Not....

Ive been looking into options myself. Post office has by far best rates, since they are tax free.

I was in much the same position as the OP (emigrated and luckily have significant savings and a job). I looked at the available options available to me from deposit accounts with various banks but the interest rates were pitiful and are likely to decrease as time progresses.

I consolidated all savings except for a few k (for when I visit home) and put it into a 10 year bond with An Post @ 45%. I expect the economy to take 10 years to return and maybe then there will be a possibility of me coming home. You can still access the funds but it takes 7 days notice.

As one of the other posters mentioned being a non resident you are not eligible for DIRT. I provided a foreign address to prove I am an expat and nominated a family member as my local representative.

Are you not then liable for tax on it in the country where you are currently tax resident (ie UK)?
