If you take out travel insurance and are travelling with your family, and you have to change plans because ONE of you gets sick, does it cover the changes for everyone travelling or just the member of the family who gets sick.

I think it will depend on your policy document with your insurance provider

this is from my 123.ie policy...

    http://www.123.ie/cms/misc/travelfaq.htm

can i cancel my trip for any reason and get all my money back

No. You may receive a reimbursement if you cancel for any reason outlined in your policy document. Covered cancellation reasons include, but are not limited to, unforeseen emergencies such as illness, injury or death of you, your travelling companion and/or a relative. The cover does not include cancellation due to business obligations, change of mind or your dislike of the travel time. Pre-existing medical conditions are not covered.

Please refer to the policy booklet you received when you purchased your policy. Our current policy booklet is available here.

I didn't want to start another thread, so asking question on this one, hope ye dont mind.

    1) Any recommendations for buying travel insurance, family summer hol to Portugal.

(I was trying to use Easy Jet to but insurance, but it says "what country are you resident in" and I'm flying out of Belfast and live in Ireland and Ireland in not an available option).

Not a substitute for travel insurance. Tourists are seen by foreign clinics and hospitals as a source of revenue so they often demand cash regardless of whether you have an EHIC and that card will get you nowhere in a private facility.
