On the insurance bit, if you get letters of refusal from at least 3 companies you can lodge an appeal with the Irish Insurance Federation. They'll get you a quotation for a policy but you mightn't like what it says.

I read that as 235km/h over the 100km/h limit! Was dying to hear what you were driving until I got to the last line!

With drink driving you never really have a clean licence. If you ever had points for drink driving you can be asked to declare it when hiring cars etc.
In the UK there are specialist high risk insurers that you can use for a few years, maybe they exist in Ireland too. Have you tried brokers?

Britton Insurance use to be good for getting quotes for people done for drink driving. Their website doesn't mention farm vehicles but they might be worth a ring. 074 9721304 is their number.
