Cross on railings at Allendale / Ongar roundabout

    There's a cross attached to railings at the Allendale / Ongar roundabout, at the exit for Hansfield.

    Who or what is it in remembrance of? I've seen it often and stopped to look but I've never seen a clear name.

    I could be wrong but I seem to recall a stolen car crashed there a few years ago

    yep, a local young lad in a car.

    Yes, I remember the incident. The family or loved ones put it up as a tribute shortly after as that was the spot where the car crashed. It hasn't deterred speeding or boy racing in the area in the wee hours unfortunately.
