Go into the Privacy settings.

There is an option to disable tags being applied without your approval.

Go to this page: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=timeline

Turn on "Review posts friends tag you in before they appear on your timeline" - I have this turned on and I will receive a notification to approve or ignore a tag of me in a photo before it appears on people's timelines or mine.
