Cat issues

A few years ago we adopted a kitten that our dog found injured in the snow. It was in a bad way with one of its rear legs badly cut up. We took it to a vet and upon examining her it was feared she might lose the leg. However she managed to pull thru losing only one toe. Since then she has been confined to the house but is going mad to get outside and explore. She has not been neutered or had her shots. Would be grateful if anyone had advice on costs of neutering and shots required.

So nice of you to take her in :)

My parents live near an old quarry and it is, sadly, a dumping ground for kittens. We've taken in a few over the years or often feral cats have just wondered in and we'd to cage them and get them neutered.

It depends on the vet, but our local one will neuter the cat and give it a once over for €15 (well that was a 2/3 years ago since we got the last cat done) if she knows you've taken in the cat out of good will.

Maybe ask around the vets where you are to see if they do such a thing.

Ok, so she's a "few years old", so im guessing 2ish.

I would set aside a budget of €150 for the full works. Checkup, neutering and vaccinations. A checkup will be around €35ish, neutering €50-70,vaccinations another €50ish.

One of the main drivers for her to get out is the fact she's not neutered so once she is you should see a change in behavior.

neutering and spaying costs can differ considerably - spaying of a female is more expensive than neutering a male.

Budget for around the 70 euro mark for a spay but definitely shop around. Some vets do it for as little as 35 if you haggle + sometimes local animal charities can have special discount rates with vets in their area.
