Hi my friend is heading to florida for 6 weeks and is wondering would it be better to buy 2 ready to go phones to use over there rather than using her irish one when in the parks for texting her partner back and forth as they have 1 older child and a toddler so will be in different rides a lot of time ,Advise would be apprieciated thanks

Cheaper to buy one there but the US doesn't make buying a SIM card as easy as here.

A lot of the networks and retailers won't sell you a SIM card without a phone.

They don't really "get" the whole concept of moving networks.

There are also ID requirements that aren't necessarily anything other than the networks being a pain in the rear.

You'd want to do your research online into the smaller MVNOs and local networks

I go to Florida regularly and normally pick up a cheap PAYG phone at Walmart. Definitely cheaper than using Irish phone, for me anyway. A lot of the parks now offer free Wifi also. Could check before they go.
