I picked up a ESP LTD KH-2 a while back.
    It came with EMG 81/85s.
    I was a bit underwhelmed.
Can someone recommend a good, high output Active OR Passive pickup set that would be good for heavy rock/metal/punk.
I'm currently using Gauge 11 strings on it.

For whats it's worth I have an American strat with HotRails (B) Jeff Beck Jr (M) and Cool Rails (N) and a 7 String Schecter Diamond with BareKnuckle PainKiller pickups....

So something with a bit of a different sound to those... but in that kind of genre/type

Am I the 1st person to find my 1st use of Active Pickups and my 1st use of EMGs to be a bit.... meh *shrugs*

Did you pick it up second hand? If so, have you changed the battery in it?

You can also put the 85 in the bridge & 81 in the neck
Never liked this Emg set, always found them very sterile as with the jb set, but thats to my ears.

What amp are you using ? Are you changing your settings or running it at the same settings as you use for the other guitars ?
