If you read the info in the link that belcampprisoner posted for you, you'll get to the part about the adapter.

    Hi Sparkobrien77

eircom only support the broadband to the main socket. There can be a few possibilities. Sorry we can do more to help.

    Thanks, Mark

the modem requires a higher quality line than voice calls do.

eircom modem should always be connected to the main socket to get the lowest level of interference on the line.

many people have extention sockets in their homes but most of the time the cabling used is not shielded against electromagnetic interference and therefore the signal for broadband is too weak for the modem to get stable sync.

if you need to use a modem on an ext socket make sure the cabling used to connect the ext socket to the main socket is either dsl rated or cat5e or cat 6 cabling as these have the electromagnetic shielding on the cables

    Hi Sparkobrien77

Is your NTU (master socket) like this http://i.imgur.com/Z1XZa.jpg (tnk's to red_bairn for pix).
If so your modem will not work on any other phone point, as an eircom tech would have installed it to prevent interference from cust's c.p.e eg , alarm's , phone point's , tv decoder's etc.
Where these socket's are installed , you don't need dsl filter's as their is no adsl signal outside that ntu point.
Your only other option's are to run an extn from the dsl port on the socket or use a power line adapter like this http://www.eircom.net/accessories/broadband/broadbandtab/plug2/ or just use the wireless option , hth's 10

Yes , but I would strongly advise against this , the socket is placed there by an Eircom tech for a reason, that being to provide you with the best optimal speed available,if you need to change it's location , I would suggest you talk to Eircom Mark and arrange a tech vist , also if you are in an area that is being upgraded to fibre I would wait, as an E Fibre NGA install will require an Eircom tech to call to upgrade existing internal wiring , which will be free , hth's 10

    Hi Sparkobrien77

Although eircom do not arrange internal wiring you can explore your options in the extension of your socket with a local electrician, however I would advise contacting eircom broadband support and discussing eircoms new wireless Wifi extenders.

    Regards

    Al
