I understand items must be less than 100ml and should be in a "ziplock plastic bag".
I've bought a set of travel bottles so that I could transfer the contents of my larger bottles to ones small enough that would be acceptable to security. Will they reject them on the basis that they have no printed quantity on them?
Also, is it easier to get the plastic bags at the supermarket or the airport itself?
    Thanks.

I use a zip-lock bag (kitchen type) because they're better quality IMO (less likely to result in leaks in your bag!), bag should be 1 litre capacity or less (Ryanair's guideline is 20 by 20cm bag)
yes it's fine to fill and label your own mini bottles

Another thing, I have daily contact lenses. This kind of seems to fall into a grey area where ten items or fewer is concerned. Each are packaged individually in strips.
Will I need to include this in my liquids bag?

I've asked this before (in the airport), they recommend packing most of your disposables in your checked baggage and only a couple of pairs in your hand luggage. I was told they'll tolerate 3 or 4 pairs of lenses outside of the 10 items, as long as everything still fits in the closed plastic bag. That was from a Ryanair staff member.

I said it to one of the guys through the metal detectors in Dublin airport (as I had 3 pairs in my hand luggage and wanted to make sure they were okay to bring through) and they said to include them in the liquids bag but he wouldn't count them within the 10 items normally.

However you may get that one person who would count them....

I'm only carrying on and I'd like to avoid this very much!
I'll have to bring about 24 cups with me :( They will be all boxed up though, hopefully the security are nice.

I've never heard of a 10 item limit. I've put a week or two supply of contact lenses in my liquids bag on many occasions and never had an issue.

There is no 10 items limit. Where it comes in is bag volume is 1 litre. So you shouldn't have more than 1000ml of liquid, which could break down to 10 x 100ml. I've travelled very extensively and my liquid bag usually has 15-20 items, some less than 10 ml and often 15+ pairs of contacts and I've never had an issue.
