Can someone tell me if the back seats in a BMW E60 fold flat so that you can fit in long'ish loads in the boot/back seat area?

    Thanks

If you have the e60 fold option they will fold, just not flat.
    Are you transporting something?

No. I seem to recall it was an optional extra to have folding back seats. You'd have to find an estate to get a long load space.

Thinking of buying one and I definitely need the option of the fold flat (or even flat-ish) seats. I have the previous 5 series and the back seats don't fold out of the way at all which I find inconvenient frequently - enough to put me off buying the new one.

Is estate an option? Still a nice looking car.

Yeah - am thinking the estate might be the way to go, however never really been mad about estates, always seem sort of 'rattly' or something.

As above, they don't fold in most E60s.
Bought one a few months ago and luckily checked before I left Cork for Ikea...

Would have been a disaster to discover this in Ikea car park with a lash of flat pack furniture.

Or when picking up an exhaust for an S2000 for a friend - which is when I discovered that the E60 I'd collected that morning didn't have folding seats.

Thankfully the exhaust unbolted in the middle so did fit.

Thanks for the replies :) It took me a good hour rummaging on my own 5 series before I figured out that the seats did not fold down. I just assumed they did when I bought it, seems like a bizarre thing to include as an 'extra'.

I'd say folding rear seats isn't common in saloon cars (unless as extra option), although many have a ski hatch.
    It should be.
