My travel company in work has booked flights for me with BA from DUB-LHR-LUX - normally i would book the DUB-LHR route with Aer Lingus and earn points, use the lounge, etc. Since the entire flight has been booked with BA will i be able to earn points and use the lounge? Im also on the BA frequent flyer program but would rather have the DUB-LHR points on AerLingus and the LHR-LUX on BA.

The Dub-Lhr leg will probably be aer lingus anyway as its a code share, you need to check the goldcircle site for which routes are covered.

Yeah, its operated by AerLingus but i have a BA booking reference for the flight. Do i check-in with BA or AerLingus?

You may earn some GC points on it, depending on the fare class (http://www.aerlingus.com/goldcircle/earningyourpoints/onpartnerairlines/) but not all classes may earn.

If the first flight is operated by Aer Lingus, then you check in with Aer Lingus.

Letting the mileage post solely to Avios can be handy enough, if you want to avail of a pretty decent rate for reward travel on EI business class transatlantic.
Back in April I wrote about the discovery that British Airways Avios could be redeemed for travel on Aer Lingus without fuel surcharges. Initially I thought it was just coach award availability that was wide open, though quickly discovered that business class was wide open as well.

This is awesome because virtually all other transatlantic award tickets booked with British Airways Avios are subject to huge surcharges, which on a roundtrip business class ticket come out to over $1,000. A roundtrip business class booking on Aer Lingus between Boston and Dublin, on the other hand, costs just 50,000 Avios and $150.

    I'm in the same boat.

Flying Dub-Gatwick on BA on a codeshare and Gatwick-Cancun

Gold Circle told me I'll get 20 points for 1 leg and 104 for 2nd
