need a new set of tyres and was thinking of getting a set of vittoria corsa evo cx2 €56 (50 in css)anyone used these and give any feedback.
I had a set of cont. grand prix €100 pr and they were good tyres, was looking at the gp 4000s at €55
the vittorias seem fairly popular according to harrys bike shop any thoughts appreciated

I assume you are using clinchers since you mention the gp4000s.

If thats the case, then Vittoria Open Corsa are a great tyre for low rolling resistance as proven in some of the crr tests. I use them on my race tires for TT's. Study up well in about 10 TT so far with no trouble.

I dont know how they'd be as a general purpose tyre.

100 euro sounds like way too much, how about these Continental Grand Prix wired for just under 21 bob, delivered for free in the ROI?

The Vittoria Open corsa's are my favourites by a long way. Handle beautyfully and roll reall well although a bit prone to cuts.

If you are talking about race tyres I would go for Veloflex corsa/master and get a couple of latex tubes as well. The grip is just awesome and the latex will make the ride a bit better. (To stay on topic between the two you said vittoria)

Let me guess they are lighter as well ;-)

They are the same moulds, but the vittoria are made in Thailand and the veloflexes in Italy.

I think the best tyres are the GP 4000s, they wear well, have good grip and don't cut up as much as others. I've had 2 Virroria CX's on this year and they are both worn out now, the rear only lasted a few weeks, plenty of cuts, one day I was looking for glass in a cut and the latex tube started to bubble out! they have good grip but too little rubber.

    thanks lads

think i'll go with the conti, got good wear and handling out of the last set. Was asking about the vittorias to see what people thought of them

Used the grand prix with the chilli compound. Great tyre. Very few punctures.
    and a great tyre.
    BUT
Vittoria ,IMO, are a better tyre all round despite their failings. Roll better,Corner better and handle better over the crappier roads. Throw some latex tubes underneath and its a close to tubs you will get without the hassle.
