Can anyone please advise me here

Should i be overly worried about which primary school i send my son to? There are 2 schools in our catchment area - Caherdavin Primary and JFK, Caherdavin is the closer of the 2 but i see that JFK is newly renovated and i have a family member saying i should pick JFK ..only thing JFK doesnt start until 1st class

If anyone has any experience with these 2 schools and advise on which one would be the better choice and why..or as i said should i even be worried about which primary he goes to ?

    thanks in advance

    Hi there

Have you enrolled him in any school?

I have a friend working in a rural school in Co. Limerick and I was very surprised to hear her mention that new parents are calling registering their kids for four years from now so as to ensure a place in the community school.

Schools teach the national curriculum so at the end of the day they all provide the same service...teachers are regularly inspected through their WSE Whole school evaluations as well as Incidental unplanned visits from dept of ed inspectors so don't think in your case there would be much difference between schools.

They're both good schools. Scoil Críost Rí has the advantage of being right next to the parish field in Caherdavin, so they've always produced stronger sports teams. Maybe not a big deal to ye though!

agree that both schools are good with very little between them. JFK has all new school built in last year but very little extra grounds. Caherdavin has sports field right behind it and consistently performs well in GAA/athletics. Neither school has right of entry to secondary school but if you live in the Holy Rosary parish there is right of entry to Ard Scoil Ris which is highly rated boys school. while JFK only starts education at 1st class the traditional route of entry is through Salesians Infant School on North Circular Road - a co-ed school, but you can enter JFK from any other primary school and there is a open day notification in the local papers every year. both schools would be very similiar academically.
