It says that in 2000 he was the best amateur SHW on earth. He beat all comers. All weights, all sizes. The best amateur in the games. He earned that gold. No way was that easy. Whether you like the division or not means little. Nobody gets a gold medal in the games easily. You have to be top class.

As a professional he won the Commonwealth and European titles, and also won one of the less prestigious World baubles (WBF). On top of that he challenged for a version of the Heavyweight title (WBA). He'll have also have earned himself a serious amount of money in his career, getting a £1,000,000 payday to start with from the BBC alone.

In his amateur days he won Olympic and Commonwealth Gold, establishing himself clearly as the best Super-Heavyweight in the world at the time of his greatest success. As a whole, as pathetic a character as he may seem, that's one hell of a successful career !

Audley only got so much abuse because so much was expected of him as an amateur a gold medalist amazing achivement, and as a pro still a European and Commonwealth champion yes he was never the world beater he kept saying he would be however the lad did more then most boxers ever do, and you have to hand it to him despite not being great he managed to make himself millions

The pro game was far too rough for Harrison. Im happy he got out before he got seriously hurt. Good luck to him

As someone pointed out, he has a gold medal, they don't hand them out for nothing.

His pro career was really tough to watch, I felt bad for him and also hated him cause he just wouldn't go away.

He is doing the right thing.

Following his pro career was more frustration than hate for me. However at times he would drive you mad.

Deontay says it best: Fair play to him.

I just heard about Audley retiring and I want to say to him – thanks for the opportunity you gave me to be in your camp and also to fight you. I’ll respect you forever for that Big Brother. Everybody tells me they loved our weigh-in because we were professional and they could see we were friends even though we had a job to do.

Good luck in all you have planned for the future. You were great with advice in camp and I know you’ll be there for me as I move toward the Heavyweight Title. From the Olympic Gold to the Prizefighter Championships and all that came in between you can hold your head high knowing you never ducked anyone and accomplished more than most ever will.
I’m here for you just like you are for me and I wish you the best. Love and peace and God Bless.”

Deontay Wilder is actually a class act like, saw him a number of interviews and he comes across as genuinely likeable. He seems to have a good work ethic and commitment to the sport.

I still think Fury would knock him out though.

God help us seriously it is clearly just for money honestly the man cannot belive he will ever achive his what he said he would what top prospect will bother fighting him shouldnt be given a licence in my view he is bad for boxing and could end up doing himself damage aswell as the sport

    God help him.

He's clearly either mad or being advised terribly - he's a joker and an embarrassment to the sport. Who would put him on a bill? Everyone, because people just love to watch him get beat up at this stage

Never mind land I dont recall him throwing a punch.

I must admit, after prize fighter and his drop in weightI thought he looked pretty good but I was wrong.

Think having a son would have confirmed to him that retirement is the right thing to do, he says he's in the best shape well one thing you can not train into yourself is toughness and punch resistence and Harrison just doesn't have it at any level above average.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭djhaxman

Going to get badly hurt. His priority should be his son now, not a pointless and futile dream to be a champion in a sport he's not particularly good at.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,549 ✭✭✭✭cowzerp

He clearly wants to earn money for his son

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

Audley isn't even a decent stepping stone anymore. A silly decision for him to return again. I think the chances of him getting seriously hurt are unlikely since he is not particularly durable.

It's pretty obvious that he didn't have any exit strategy from boxing & needs the few pound. It won't make for enjoyable viewing unfortunately.

At the end of the day lads, he's an eejit.
