    Hi there,

There is an opportunity to do some work transporting vehicles as an independent contractor with a friend of mine and I need some estimates for what I can expect to pay for motor trade insurance which will cover Ireland, UK and mainland Europe.

Just looking to see if anyone out there working in the motor industry can recommend an insurance company/broker who can advise on motor trade insurance and also a ball park figure on what I can expect to pay for such cover.

    Thanks.

This is really just an extra few quid for me and helping a mate out at the same time. Most of what I'll be doing will actually be driving the car itself rather than having it on a trailer or truck.

Its mainly one off jobs where its just not financially feasible to send a truck so don't need to make a fortune as won't have massive overheads but do want to be properly covered and all above board.

    From brittons web site

Motor Trade Road Risks insurance provides stand-alone road risk cover for motor traders (both working full time & part time)
The policy will cover you to drive private cars & commercial vehicles owned & registered to you plus vehicles being driven in connection with your Motor Trade business, but excluding those registered to your spouse or family members.

You would want to make sure that your covered to drive the cars owned by this other lad,

Garage ins is not cheap by the way and if you have other business you'll need a second vehicle insured separately, also you'll need to use your NCB obviously.
