Hey guys, i'm looking to buy a PC in the next few days, i'm looking for one with an i5 processor.

1. What is your budget? €899

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? It will be mainly gaming but maybe a little recording. Minecraft, Skyrim, Battlefield 3 and Kerbal space centre.

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Nope

5. Do you need a monitor? Yes

5a. If yes, what size do you need. 19'

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] [Yes/No]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers/etc.] Wireless, speakers and not sure what a card reader is.

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes

8. How can you pay? Bank Transfer and Laser

9. When are you purchasing? Some time this week

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Mayo

i think you should rethink your processor choice, for that budget if you were to go with an i5 you'd have to cheap out alot on the graphics card which is the most important part of a gaming build, maybe you should get a FX-6300 which will leave your more than enough for a decent graphics card

i3 is dual core, i5 is quad. You are better off i reckon with the amd listed above in that budget, more games are starting to use more than 2 cores, and with the money saved you can get a decent cooler and overclock the processor if its struggling in some games

Any of the latest i5 quad cores are great for gaming, low power draw, good chips, but are relatively pricey, will cost about 160+ euros

Since you want a monitor and windows this will leave you with a slower graphics card and a tighter build


If you go with the AMD 6300 (actually they just released the 6350 which is faster, same price), then you have more space for a better graphics card or an SSD.

And to be honest, unless you are obsessed with energy savings or frames per second, then the AMD chip is a much better budget chip

Plus it's 6 cores, which will come in handy down the line when more applications (and games) make better use of them

I agree with the guys that an AMD processor might be the way to go but here is an i5 build as requested.

19" monitors tend to be low res like the one I listed in the build. I would recommend 21" as a min size for a gaming monitor.

while that is a nice build it still lacks abit in gaming power, so i specced out a fx-6350 system with everything you need (apart from a keyboard which you should buy locally)
you gain huge advantages like a much faster graphics card and a 22" 1920x1080 monitor so this would be the more ideal build.
