    Hi Guys,
I'm doing the Limerick half marathon on Sunday and am debating whether to run a 5 mile race tomorrow night (Thurs) or not as my last prep run.

Would it be a good sharpener or actually be a bad idea so close to the race on Sunday? Any thoughts?

Too close to the Half Marathon to race it, this should be a handy week in the lead up to the race. Run 5 miles, but not at 5 mile race pace more an easy run.

Again it depends if your priority is the 5 mile race or the HM, but I personally wouldn't race both.

    Too close to race it.

I got a telling off from one of the local coaches last night for having done a 5 mile race on the Thursday before London. I did only jog around the 5 miler in order to get the points for the team in the series, but he still thought I shouldn't have run it. Possibly didn't help my claims of "I only ran easy" when I ended up doing some pacing/ wind shield duties over the last mile of the 5 for his daughter who was racing.

Thanks for the solid advice guys - that's what I expected to hear but just needed to be told! No race tomorrow night for me then, just a gentle 5 mile run instead.

    Thanks again........
