i'm sure there are businesses which are going well out there at the moment, it would be great to hear some good news stories for a change...maybe some businesses which are set up in certain counties which could be adapted elsewhere...

They have a subscription options link and I'm sure the OP could contact them and purchase that specific issue or see if they would provide him with a copy.

IT-this is more or less a permanent business, as technology will continue to evolve endlessly. You may think about software solutions or intelligent devices that allow efficient, real time information processing.

Health and wellness in general - organic food, coached physical training programs, "real" food suppliers like butchers, fruit and veg deliveries, custom meal prep services.

There's a big gap for a reliable and affordable "full service provider" who can deliver the physical training program, psychological support/coaching and prepared meals/real food supplies to cash rich, time poor people.

...or even "regular" folks who appreciate the value that can be gained from a better quality of life.

Ill do it. I just haven't figured out how yet.

Retail Businesses that provide real value and superb customer service will always do well.

Aim to provide the absolute best service possible and listen to customers and give them a good experience when they shop and they will return.

Remember the internet is still niche retail - peaople WANT to shop, but they also want to enjoy the shopping experience.

We're 5 years in current business - started as 1 + 1 part-timer after previous business closed because of 400k + rent increased from 145k. Now have 42 staff and several stores. We don't sell anything that you cannot buy in many online stores or in 200+ stores around the country, but the customer is king here and we make sure they know that and are treated as such. They in turn will drive by 3/4/5 other stockists and buy from us because of what we offer extra.

Refreshing to here and gives me hope.
Here in the Northwest the customer care is abysmal & the retailer is king.

Artisan food in Ireland is booming. People aren't eating out as much but spending the money on quality Irish food. Like gleneilen? Youghurts. There is dozens of similar companies like it in Ireland that are doing well and exporting a majority of it. Look the Ernst and young entreneupreuner of the year. They're successful irish people.
