Samsung Galaxy s3 Upgrade

I was just wondering, if I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy s3 and got it for free and gave it to my son. Would I still be able to use that contract on my original phone (iPhone 4), While my son uses the pay as you go option. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! :D

Same network? Yes. It would lock you into another 12/18/24 months though.
