Car failed the NCT due to this

    Nearside 1.680kn
    Offside 0.640kn
Imbalance 62% (more than 50% is a fail)

Parking Brake Effort 17% (less than 16% is a fail)

It was suggested that i get cables replaced, does this sound right ?
The car doesn't move when the handbrake is applied but when i jacked the car up i could move the drivers side rear wheel which is where the imbalance is shown

I failed for the same reason last year, I don't remember it being that dear to get it sorted. The analogy given by the NCT lad was "you know when your pulling handbrakers it pulls a little to the side, well that's the cables worn down". My handbrake was fairly weak though as I had to pull it right up to get the car to stay steady. New cables sorted this right out.

PS- I never pull handbrakers as my kids are usually in the back when I'm driving.
