First catch in the ladder trap put it out Sunday evening with a dead rabbit in it and got up this morning and there was two grey crows in it. I wasn't expecting anything in it as it's only about ten foot away from the house

Try and empty it at night ,you will have better success with it if other birds don't see you emptying it during the day

Yeah crows are dump but mags a cute out the door you won't get many if they see you emptying it. trapping that close to the house will prob draw in the foxes so if you have cats be careful (she's still giving out about it).

Ha suppose it was two years ago now but that whore of a cat had another litter and herself insisted on giving them a nice basket inside well after much debate we no i decided they were best suited in an old dog house outside mean while i was having allot of success trapping about 20 meters up the garden. Well the next morning the boss let a shout at me she had seen a fox with one of the kittens but the roar made it drop the kitten. So we went up the garden and inspected the kitten it was shook but alive so she says that was close and she was moving them back inside so off she goes down to get them only to discover the fox had a few snacks before it said it would take the last one home for lunch. MY BAD

All the birds you trap will figure out how to escape with in a few hours, have a look at a few on youtube you will see how clever rows can be , when i have a fair few in iy i have a plank i put accross the ladder it stops anything getting out ,then empty it in the evening and start fresh the next morning.

heres dimensions we used and the trap is in full swing and working well! the only extra we used was some plywood around the bottom to stop foxs pawing at it!

4 foot square is to small and won't work. 7/8 foot square is the way to go.

have you the trap LOADED with bait?
leave the roof off for 2/3 or 4 day's and then at night put the roof back on, keep plenty of grub in it for them to come back.

We had a rabbit in it then added another two or three over the space of a week or two then we tried some eggs and other scraps from the house. I'll try leaving the top off for a few days and see if we have any luck

try and get a fox and 7 or 8 rabbit's for it. the more food in it the more birds that will come.

You need plenty of offal, road kill or a dead sheep. Leave the top off for a few days so they get well used to going in or out. When you put the roof on put plywood over first part of ladder next to wire sides or over any part where the wire is next to an opening as the birds can get a grip on the wire and climb out.
Only cull birds after nightfall. Always leave a few birds inside (with water) to act as an attraction for others..
