Any up to date recommendations on which UK postcode is best to use when setting up a Freesat box in Dublin? :)

It depends on your personal preference for regional programming, also arent there still issues with UTV HD?

ITV London, well just stay away from the Celtic fringe tends to be a good idea unless you are culturally sympathetic to the local programming!

I just used the postcode for BBC Television Centre in London when setting them up. W12 7RJ

Yes, using a NI postcode removes ITV HD. You'll also have to contend with BBC 1 NI moving stuff around to suit their local programming.

I used a Manchester postcode in the end. Delighted to be rid of poxy UTV. God what an awful regional channel. Especially that Julian twonk.

    Is he still there ???????
We specifically tuned to ITV London a few years ago mainly to avoid him (and a few of his UTV buddies....)

Still there. OP the flip side is that practically all Irish newspapers list the Northern Ireland versions of UK channels not the London ones.

True but its ok as I use the EPG mostly and the email I subscribe to from Fresat themselves.

That used to annoy the fcuk out of me in the bad old days before satellite. Saturday evening and you'd be watching final score on the Beeb when they'd suddenly switch over to Mark ''Mr Shouty'' Robson and Jackie (is he still alive?) Fullerton. The NI versions of ITV and BBC1 are bloody awful

That's the postcode I'm using (then again, I was born and brought up there, so it's like my ''home'' region!).

For London, I use SW1 1AA (Buck House) and for NI, I would use BT1 1AA (whch is the main Belfast sorting office).

I wish Freesat would allow HD channels to replace the equivalent SD channels by default, or at least allow the swapping of them.

For those of us who want to use UTV, is there any sign of UTV HD coming? I thought it was supposed to be April/May?

    Use a Manchester Postcode - M2 4JA

You will get ITV HD in full 1920x1080 resolution, (all other versions of ITV HD are 1440x1080) and ITV+1 on 119.

UTV HD and UTV+1 will not be on Sky/Freesat until the end of the year at the latest, but who knows, could take even longer. Once they launch, you can use BT1 1AA if you wish to have UTV, UTV HD and UTV+1 on the EPG instead of ITV.

You can use the Manchester postcode and still change 101 and 102 to be BBC ONE NI and BBC TWO NI if you wish. 108 will be BBC ONE HD for England which does not carry NI news but may show programmes/films not on BBC ONE NI / BBC ONE NI HD which will give you a little more choice, especially if you aren't interested in local programming or don't want to wait until later in the evening to watch programmes that other BBC ONE regions are showing earlier.

All (most) BBC regions are available in the 900s, together with Ch4 (London) and ITV 1 (London) as well. Handy for watching some of the Rabo rugby from Wales and Scotland.

That's the exact setting I have: Manchester postcode for highest quality ITV, BBC NI for my BBCs to utilise local listings.

    I found this list from:
    http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/topic/88678-itvhd-in-scotland-and-ireland/

    very useful:

    Anglia NR1 3JG
    Border CA1 3NT
    Central B1 2JT
    Channel JE1 3ZD
    Granada M60 9EA
    HTV Wales CF5 6XJ
    London WC1X 8XZ
    Meridian ME14 5NZ
    HTV West BS4 3HG
    Westcountry PL7 5BQ
    Tyne Tees NE11 9SZ

It didn't include STV or UTV. See below:

    STV (Central) G51 1PQ
    STV (North) AB10 7FN
UTV BT1A 1AA (thanks, Sam Russel from earlier post)

How do you do this on a Humax box?

Menu > Edit Channels > Edit Customisable Channels.

Select the BBC region of choice for both BBC1 and BBC2.

    Save and presto!

    Me too. Keep it central.
