Hi. I recently purchased a carbon fork second hand which came off a boardman team CX cyclo cross and want to fit it to a giant xtc4. I've slipped it on but noticed the large tapered part towards the crown won't sit inside the frame. Can I buy a larger bearing for this and can I fill with some sort of spacer?
    Many thanks

That's probably not for the best. The fork is a tapered one, which is designed to fit into a similarly tapered headtube. I wouldn't do it as the fork isn't designed to take the kinds of stresses that it may encounter being mounted so far from the bottom of the headtube. The extra distance from the frame could cause it to snap if you hit anything too hard.

No, not that I've ever heard of. There are also other issues in putting a road / cx fork onto a mtb which I assume you might not have thought about considering you didn't realise the fork steerer tubes were different sizes.

Yeah I was thinking as much. It was too good a bargain to let slip by without trying as I have been looking for a carbon fork for a while.
