Women's road helmet?

    Hello all!

A question for the ladies, or even the discerning male cyclist with many many lady friends...

The girlfriend is looking to get a helmet for her new road bike, she wasn't too impressed with the shape and mushroom-y-ness of the ones we looked at over the weekend, (giro aeon/atmos, Bell brand, etc in cyclesuperstore)

While a small size fitted ok, she does have a small/narrow head and is hoping to find something with a little less up top, more of a slimmer, thinner, lighter helmet.

Any suggestions on womens helmets, or suggested other Dublin area shops that might be worth checking out?

    Cheers!

I have a Specialized Sierra helmet, it's a lot tidier and less Mushroom shaped than the Raleigh one I was using (got it free from LBS when buying my touring bike). Find it comfortable. Think it's a trial and error thing and depends on how much you want to spend.

Most women I find go for the BBB Kite Helmet.

I've quite a small head and found that many of the brands just didn't sit right except for Spiuk. I got mine in Wheelworx and most importantly its white and fuschia :D .

Well Dirk, when your lady friends decide to slip into something a little 'more comfortable and seductive' in their natural cycling environment... what is their weapon of choice? :D

Kask are kinda unique in that they have a 'one size for all' design that works for men and women as they have a very adjustable interior head band. I guess they need it to fit big heads like Wiggo and Froome (they sponsor Team Sky). I've heard of a few people who've had difficulties getting a good fitting finding Kask works. They look pretty good too. You can get them in Eurocycles.

    My good friend Tiffany says:

    "Scott!"

I'd have a look at Catlike, lazer and Limar. Most helmets are, unfortunately, mushroomy.

All the women I know who cycle wear race helmets, is the idea of a women's helmet not just marketing to sell pink things with flowers on? My head is bigger than my husband's.

I find the Kask Mojito comfy, have been a medium in all the helmets I've had due to lots of hair. There is lots of adjustment and works well with a ponytail. My husband steals the Kask when I'm not around, he prefers it to his Ekoi.
