Anyone know of any good cycling routes for a family just starting out as cyclists.I have been checking around people have mentioned the following places but I don't know how suitable they are
    Ballyseedy Woods Tralee
    Ballyheigue
Tralee to Fenit cycleway (not sure if that is open)
We were in Dungarvan last year and loved the cycleway from there out to Clonea Beach felt very safe with the children cycling.
Thanks in advance for any info

From the centre of Killarney there is a tow path out the Muckross Road that runs parallel to the road to Molls Gap/Sneem for about three km. The path then turns in toward the lakes and takes various loops around Muckross House and the lakes.
Lots of families use it for walking and cycling. I would say at a guess that there is at least 20km plus of loops.
    I bring my kids there.
A lot o the paths would be suitable for a road bike but some of them are rough so a hybrid or MTB type tyre would be best.
It really is stunning and suitable for even very young kids.
There are also a few places in Killarney where you can hire trailers for young kids.

If your kids are older and you want road cycling in quiet roads then Killarney out to Glencar via Dunloe is very nice.
There is a bike path out the main Killorglin road until the turn off for Dunloe. Then it is really quiet rural back roads.

You should get on Eamonn Casey of Casey Cycles Cahersiveen. 066 9472474 Website link here

He has a lovely simple booklet with a Map of some stunning routes around the Cahersiveen area.
A lot quieter than the more well known areas in Kerry but well worth a visit.
