    All For One

For the first time since the inception of the Draft Lottery in 1995, all 14 non-playoff teams will have a chance at winning the first overall pick.

In previous years, the club selected in the Draft Lottery could not move up more than four positions in the draft order. While the top pick can now go to any of the lottery clubs, or the team owning the rights to the first pick of a lottery club, the odds of winning the lottery are unchanged from previous years. No team can move down more than one position as a result of the lottery.

The 2013 Scotiabank NHL Draft Lottery will be held on Monday, April 29 on TSN at 8pm et/5pm pt. The Draft will be held Sunday, June 30 on TSN and TSN.ca at 3pm et/Noon pt.

Best of luck to my man Dale Tallon and his Florida Panthers with tonight's NHL Lottery.

It's going to be bloody Edmonton again, isn't it? IMO, teams that narrowly missed out on the playoffs (Columbus) should get higher preference than teams that tanked royally (Florida).

AVALANCHE WIN NHL DRAFT LOTTERY, HOLD FIRST OVERALL PICK

TORONTO -- Finishing last in the Western Conference standings and out of the NHL playoffs paid huge dividends for the Colorado Avalanche on Monday.

Colorado won the NHL draft lottery and the right to make the first pick in this year's entry draft. The Avalanche had an 18.8 per cent chance of winning the lottery after finishing the regular season with a dismal 16-25-7 record.

The Florida Panthers, who finished last overall with a 15-27-6 mark, had the best odds of winning at 25 per cent. But they had to settle for the No. 2 pick when the draft is held June 30 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J
