Dun Laoghaire what are the laws for children playing in neighbourhood

In our neighbourhood children have for many years played in the quiet cul-de-sac around the corner. The children are all mannerly well brought up. They are between 8 and 11 years old. These are not little thugs or rowdy teenagers.

Recently an older man has twice complained and demanded they cease playing. Each time the children have walked away without incidence and come home to tell their parents.

I would not like them to be disrespectful to an old man, but I don’t want them to be bullied by an old man either.
I would like to know if anyone has any idea of the bi-laws governing playing in the streets.

Does he have a legal leg to stand on?

No. He's just an old cunt. Tell him to leave your kids alone.

Careful though, what if he watches Harry Brown and gets ideas.

Tell the cops he's a paedophile.

    I'm not disputing their behavior.

I would inquire as to if they are making a lot of noise. If you live in a fairly closed in environment i.e a cul de sac and children are screeching it can be very annoying.

Are the children playing outside of their houses?
Or in another are of their estate(ie outside the old man's house)?

    Hi OP,

There is a Dulin South County forum and also a Legal Discussion forum, however I would suggest you speak to the gardai or the council about the laws regarding this.
