I am letting go a staff member and making his position redundant due to a downturn in business. He has been working here for almost 20 years, he has a contract that states that he can be kept on after 65 if required. He is 66 now. Not sure legally if I have to pay full redundancy or any kind of redundancy at all.

I intend doing right by him but was wondering what the legal right is.

    Thanks in advance.

If a member of IBEC contact them if not contact a solicitor who can answer the question quickly. There is to the best of my knowledge case law on this issue.
