    HI all,

I failed the NCT 10 days ago due to my drivers side front seat belt. I was quoted €323 +VAT & €356 +VAT from 2 Kia dealers. Personally I'd prefer not to pay €400 or more so I'm looking for 2nd hand/salvage part. Its a Kia Ceed 5door hatchback 2007 petrol.

I've tried pretty much all of the places I could find on google, both North and South. I'm wondering if there's anyone here that might know any places that wouldn't have a web presence. Clutching at straws now tbh.

This will be nearly €1400 on a car I bought 2 years ago for €5300. Wouldnt mind but the damn seat belt passed the NCT when I got it. Car was bought on the understanding the garage got it through the NCT.

What's the mileage? Is this not covered by the warranty possibly? For such an important part I would rather new than used but that's just a personal preference.

Micks garage dont sell seat belts unfortunately.

Mileage is 153k, just over the 7 year / 150k cut off.

I think I will be changing the car in the next couple of months and would prefer not to sink 400 euro plus labour into it. I had found a belt from Traynors from N.Ireland for £45.00 but when it was being packed to day they noticed it was frayed so it wouldnt do.

The problem finding a salvage part is that I need the same year and model but the drivers side front airbags cannot have gone off. If they airbags deployed the seat belt is no good or so I'm told.

I never have thought a seat belt was such a complicated part before this.

What did it fail on? Badly frayed or the mechanism?

The belt is frayed. I just wish they failed it 2 years ago (hasnt gotten much worse) as then the garage would have replaced it or I would have purchased a different car.
