Commercial tax

Quick question about the road tax.
Planning to buy a Commercial jeep , it comes with a one year road tax on it.

Now i am going to get a herd number later this year ( hopefully ) so i will be entitled to commercially tax the jeep .

My question :when i buy the jeep i will not have yet the herd number so wondering if the tax office will give me any trouble when changing ownership ?
The car will already be taxed commercially for the year so can they revert that and ask me to pay private road tax ?

    Many thanks in advance

    Short answer - No

You won't have any hassle 'til you need to renew your tax

Same thing happened to me today - deal done earlier! I spoke with owner of garage and he informed me I have two options. 1) Register it in my father's name as he has a small company or 2)Register it in Kildare not Wicklow as Kildare are ment to be a easier to deal with! All I need now is a pickup!
