    Hi All,

Posting this for a friend as he isn't a boardsie and i haven't a clue when it comes to surround sound.

At present he has a 42" tv with a Technomate 500 SD sat receiver connected to it, this has spdif out on it but no HDMI

He wants a surround sound system to add to this, we were looking at this:
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/1-box-home-cinema-systems/yamaha/yht298/yama-yht298

    Would it be over kill?
Would it need/benefit from a Bluray player?
Would something else be a better option?

Remember that we are clueless when it comes to this and that system would be at the top end of the price range.

    Many thanks
